The Eastern Region has seen significant development in various sectors under the current government, according to the Regional Minister, Honorable Seth Kwame Acheampong.
Speaking at a town hall meeting at the Center for National Culture in Koforidua, Honorable Acheampong highlighted the government’s achievements in education, healthcare, and infrastructure development.
“In education, we have increased Senior High School enrollment from 127,000 in 2016/2017 to 163,400 in 2023/2024, representing a 54% increase. We have also provided 44 educational infrastructures, including new schools and classroom blocks, across the region,” he said.
In healthcare, Honorable Acheampong noted that the government has built new hospitals, health centers, and CHIP compounds, and rehabilitated existing ones. “We have also provided soft infrastructure, including laptops, notebooks, and physical education kits, to support healthcare delivery,” he added.
On infrastructure development, the Regional Minister said, “We have awarded contracts for the construction of over 5,500 kilometers of roads, with 85.9% kilometers completed so far. We have also upgraded urban roads and built new bridges to connect communities.”
Honorable Acheampong emphasized that the government’s development agenda is holistic, focusing on access to education, healthcare, and economic opportunities. “We are not just building classroom blocks or hospitals, but also providing access to these facilities through road networks and other infrastructure,” he said.
The Regional Minister expressed his pride in the government’s achievements and urged the public to support the government’s efforts to develop the region.
“I am proud of what we have achieved so far, and I believe that with the support of the public, we can do more to transform the Eastern Region,” he said.
The town hall meeting was attended by traditional leaders, district chief executives, and members of the public, who praised the government’s efforts to develop the region.
