The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has received proposals from all 18 Ghana Premier League clubs, stating their preferred venues for the upcoming season.
The proposals were submitted on Friday, July 19, 2024, ahead of the deadline set by the football governing body.
The venues proposed by the clubs include a mix of existing stadiums and new facilities, with some teams opting to use their own home grounds while others have chosen neutral venues.
The GFA is expected to review the proposals and conduct inspections of the venues before giving final approval. The move is aimed at ensuring that all venues meet the required standards for the top-flight league.
The development comes as the GFA prepares for the start of the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season, which is scheduled to kick off on September 6, 2024.
Some of the proposed venues include the Accra Sports Stadium, Cape Coast Stadium, and Tamale Sports Stadium, which have hosted several high-profile matches in the past. Other clubs have opted for smaller venues, citing the need for a more intimate setting to boost their team’s performance.
The GFA’s decision to allow clubs to propose their own venues is seen as a move to increase flexibility and reduce costs associated with maintaining large stadiums. The move is also expected to boost attendance and create a more exciting atmosphere at matches, as clubs will be able to tailor their venues to suit their specific needs.
