Ghana’s Black Stars Head Coach, Otto Addo, has announced a 23-man squad for the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Angola and Niger.
The team was revealed at a press briefing in Accra on Thursday, August 29.
The squad features a mix of experienced players and newcomers, with notable returnees including Arsenal’s Thomas Partey, Athletic Club’s Iñaki Williams, and LA Galaxy’s Joseph Paintsil.
These players are expected to bring depth and quality to the team as Ghana seeks to qualify for the 2025 AFCON.
The squad will face Angola and Niger in crucial qualifying matches, and the team’s performance will be crucial in determining Ghana’s chances of advancing to the tournament.
The full squad list is as follows:
Goalkeepers: Lawrence Ati-Zigi, Joseph Wollacott and Frederick Asare
Defenders: Alidu Seidu, Tariq Lamptey, Alexander Djiku, Abdul Mumin, Mohammed Salisu, Jerome Opoku, Ebenezer Annan and Kingsley Schindler.
Midfielders: Mohammed Kudus, Francis Abu, Thomas Partey, Elisha Owusu and Majeed Ashimeru.
Forwards: Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, Joseph Paintsil, Ibrahim Osman, Antoine Semenyo, Iñaki Williams, Brandon Thomas-Asante and Jordan Ayew.
Ghana will face Angola on Thursday September 5 and Niger on September 9 in the AFCON qualifiers. With this squad, Coach Addo will be looking to secure vital wins and take the Black Stars one step closer to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) expects all players to report for camp by Tuesday, September 3, with the first arrivals scheduled for this weekend, according to Communications Director Henry Asante Twum.
