The Ghana Revenue Authority’s Commissioner General, Madam Julie Essiam, has disclosed that the government will settle a judgment debt of GH¢95 million to West Blue Consulting.
This follows the termination of the consultancy firm’s contract, which provided technical and support services to the GRA from 2015 to 2020.
Madam Essiam revealed this during a public hearing of Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee on Monday at Parliament House in Accra.
She stated, “…Indeed, the judgement debt is GH¢95 million. We will not be able to pay all GH¢95 million and therefore the agreement with the court is to pay these in three instalments.”
The government had initially been sued for GH¢289 million by West Blue Consulting after the contract was terminated.
Madam Essiam’s revelation highlights the government’s commitment to settling the debt, albeit in instalments, to avoid further legal complications.
