On Monday, a group supporting Bernard Anbataayela Mornah’s candidacy, Friends of Bernard Anbataayela Mornah for Change (BAM 4 Change), collected nomination forms for him to run for the party’s presidential candidate position.
Bernard Mornah, a former National Chairman who recently announced his bid for the 2024 presidential election, envisions a Ghana where all individuals, particularly youth and women, can reach their full potential and thrive.
Speaking to journalists after obtaining the nomination forms at the party’s national office in Accra, Desmond Ntow, a representative of the Friends of Bernard Anbataayela Mornah for Change group, explained that they chose to support Mr. Mornah’s candidacy due to their deep trust and confidence in his leadership abilities.
Desmond Ntow expressed his conviction that Bernard Mornah possesses the leadership skills to lead the People’s National Convention (PNC) to unprecedented success, likening him to a guide who can take the party to its ultimate goal.
He also pledged that the “BAM 4 Change” campaign team would conduct a positive and respectful campaign, focusing on issues rather than personal attacks or divisive rhetoric.
Mr. Ntow portrayed Bernard Mornah as a highly capable and accomplished individual, emphasizing that the PNC requires a unified force to move forward.
He urged all party loyalists to come together and throw their support behind Mr. Mornah, fostering a sense of unity and solidarity within the party.
“We need a popular and marketable flagbearer like Bernard Mornah to wrestle power from the NPP government,” he said.
Accompanying Desmond Ntow were his colleagues from the “Friends of Bernard Anbataayela Mornah for Change” group, namely Iddrisu Bawa, Manan Mohammed, and Zachariah Samira, as he collected the nomination forms and spoke to the press.
The People’s National Convention (PNC) has set August 31, 2024, as the date for its primaries, with nomination forms priced at GHC10,000.00 and a filing fee of GHC100,000.00, despite some internal opposition.
Founded by former President Hilla Limann, the PNC is built on the principles of the People’s National Party, which he led to victory in the 1979 elections.
The party has participated in every national election since the beginning of the fourth republic, with the exception of the 1992 parliamentary election, which it boycotted alongside other opposition parties.
