Member of Parliament for Ketu South, Madam Dzifa Abla Gomashie, has expressed her support for the “24-hour economy” policy, citing its potential to create job opportunities for youth and improve the economy. With her experience in the creative industry, Madam Gomashie believes the policy will revive night life and benefit the creative sector.
“As someone coming from the creative industry, I have lived and operated it and understand what it means to work 24 hours and how the night life where you get everything you want just as in the daytime, will bring improvement to our economy,” she said.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency, Madam Gomashie called on all well-meaning Ghanaians to support the policy, emphasizing its importance for the country’s benefit. “It’s not about NDC, but it’s all about what we need as a country now.”
Madam Gomashie has invested in education and vocational training programs for her constituents, aiming to build human capacity and impact the local economy. She was elected as the first woman to represent the people of Ketu-South in the Volta Region on the National Democratic Congress (NDC) ticket in 2020.
As one of the 40 women who entered parliament in 2020, Madam Gomashie was re-elected at the primaries of her constituency. With over two decades of experience in the creative arts industry, she has produced and directed many Ghanaian television productions.
Madam Gomashie is also a strong advocate for women’s participation in governance and decision-making, calling for measures to increase women’s involvement in legislating laws that affect the country.
