Ghana’s renowned football club, Asante Kotoko, is set to face off against DC United, a prominent Major League Soccer team, at the Capital City Africa Cup in Washington DC, USA, on October 12.
This annual ceremonial match is a joint initiative by the Ghana Tourism Authority and the Ghana Football Association to celebrate Ghana Week DC 2024.
The upcoming match promises to be an exciting encounter between two storied teams, with DC United boasting 13 domestic and international trophies, while Asante Kotoko has an impressive record of 24 Ghana Premier League titles, two CAF Champions League titles, and several other accolades.
The last time a Ghanaian team faced DC United was in 2023, when DC United defeated Medeama SC 2-1. Asante Kotoko earned the opportunity to play against DC United by winning the inaugural Democracy Cup, defeating their rivals Hearts of Oak in the process.
Asante Kotoko is currently undergoing intensive training to prepare for the highly anticipated match.
The Ghana Week DC 2024 celebration will take place from October 7-12, 2024, in Washington DC, USA, and the match against DC United is expected to be a highlight of the event.
