Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress, John Dramani Mahama, has pledged to reset the country’s economy and create more opportunities for young people if elected as President in the 2024 general elections.
Speaking at the launch of the NDC’s Youth Manifesto on Monday, August 12, Mahama acknowledged the challenges facing Ghana’s youth, including high unemployment, lack of opportunities, and rising public debt.
“The situation for young people has become increasingly troubling. Unemployment is high, leaving many of you without hope or direction.
It’s hard for young entrepreneurs to succeed, and the opportunities that once seemed plentiful are now rare. Every day seems worse for most young people, while a few people misuse our resources. This cannot continue! We shall recover every stolen money!” he said.
Mahama emphasized the need for change, stating that Ghana is at its “lowest point in national life” and requires significant transformations to secure a better future. He assured the youth that he understands their frustration and fears, saying, “I believe in your potential, and I am committed to helping you realize it.”
The former President promised to use the next four years to reset the country and create a brighter future for young Ghanaians. He stressed the importance of leaders who understand the struggles and share in the dreams of the youth, saying, “We need leaders who will restore faith in our government and renew our national pride.”
Mahama also introduced his running mate, Professor Naana Opoku-Agyemang, who will become Ghana’s first female Vice President if the NDC wins the elections. He expressed excitement about delivering on his pledges alongside her.
The NDC flagbearer emphasized his commitment to the youth, stating, “I am taking your vote and support as a commitment I am making to you that I have a responsibility to God and to you.”
Mahama’s speech was met with enthusiasm from the youth in attendance, who see him as a beacon of hope for a better future. With the 2024 elections looming, Mahama’s pledges will likely resonate with many young Ghanaians who are eager for change.
The NDC’s Youth Manifesto outlines a comprehensive plan to address the challenges facing Ghana’s youth, including unemployment, education, and healthcare. Mahama’s commitment to implementing this manifesto has generated significant excitement among young people.
As Ghana prepares for the 2024 elections, Mahama’s message of hope and change is likely to resonate with many voters. His pledge to reset the country’s economy and create more opportunities for young people may prove decisive in winning the support of Ghana’s youth.
In conclusion, John Dramani Mahama’s speech at the launch of the NDC’s Youth Manifesto has sent a clear message to Ghana’s youth: he is committed to creating a brighter future for them and will work tirelessly to address the challenges they face.
With his running mate, Professor Naana Opoku-Agyemang, by his side, Mahama is poised to make a significant impact in the 2024 elections. His commitment to the youth and his pledge to reset the country’s economy may prove to be a winning formula.
