English forward Mason Greenwood has finalized a transfer to French Ligue 1 side Olympic Marseille, leaving Manchester United in a deal worth £26 million.
The transfer deal is worth €31.6m (£26.7m), consisting of a €27.6m (£23.3m) fixed fee, €4m (£3.4m) in additional payments, and a significant sell-on clause that entitles Manchester United to a substantial percentage of any future transfer fee.
The 22-year-old, who rose through Manchester United’s youth ranks, has signed a five-year contract with the French club, marking a new chapter in his career.
Greenwood’s move to Marseille brings an end to his 15-year association with Manchester United, where he progressed from the club’s academy to the first team, making his professional debut in 2019.
The young striker has represented England at various youth levels and made his senior international debut in 2020. He is expected to bring his pace and goal-scoring prowess to Marseille’s attack, bolstering the team’s bid for success in French and European competitions.
Mason Greenwood’s transfer to Marseille sees him work with Roberto De Zerbi, formerly of Brighton & Hove Albion, who took the reins as Marseille’s head coach in June
