Koforidua, Eastern Region – The Minister of Information, Hon Fatimatu Abubakar , has held a town hall meeting at the Center for National Culture in Koforidua, as part of a nationwide tour to disseminate government information and gather feedback from the public.
In her welcome address, the Minister expressed her excitement to be in the Eastern Region and thanked God Almighty for the opportunity to serve.
She emphasized the simple vision of the Ministry of Information, which is to disseminate government information, conduct public education and sensitization, and take feedback from the public to influence policy.
The Minister noted that the Ministry cannot leave the work of information dissemination to Accra alone and emphasized the need to engage with the public in their local languages.
She also highlighted the importance of accountability in democracy, which is the driving force behind the town hall meetings.
The Minister announced that the meeting was designed to showcase the developmental projects undertaken by the government in the Eastern Region, under the leadership of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia.
She introduced a team of experts who have firsthand knowledge of developments in their respective sectors to share information with the public.
The Minister expressed her gratitude to the people of the Eastern Region for their warm reception and thanked the Omanhene of New Juaben Traditional Area for his kind gesture.
She also commended the community for mobilizing to meet with the Ministry’s team.
The town hall meeting is part of a series of engagements by the Ministry of Information to promote transparency and accountability in governance.
Similar meetings are expected to be held in other regions across the country.
