The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has reaffirmed its dedication to good governance, infrastructure development, and business growth, as outlined in its 2024 manifesto.
At a sectoral press briefing in Accra, party representatives provided in-depth explanations and responded to media queries on various aspects of the party’s policies.
Kwame Agbodza, MP for Adaklu, emphasized the importance of infrastructure development in driving economic growth and improving citizens’ quality of life.
He announced the party’s plan to embark on a US$10-billion accelerated infrastructural plan, focusing on critical sectors like transportation, energy, and healthcare.
“We will also revamp the Ghana Infrastructure Investment Fund (GIIF) to undertake strategic self-financing projects for jobs and national transformation,” Agbodza added.
Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, MP for North Tongu, highlighted the party’s commitment to good governance, promising to investigate state capture of lands, reopen unresolved cases, and launch inquiries into scandals that have rocked the nation under the current government.
Saajida Shiraz, Sectoral Spokesperson for Business Development, expressed concern about the adverse effects of high taxes, cedi depreciation, rising interest rates, and increasing utility tariffs on businesses and livelihoods. She outlined measures to ease the tax burden, restore investor confidence, and promote locally made goods.
“The incoming John Mahama-led government will create a congenial business atmosphere and restore investor confidence, expand the indigenous entrepreneurial class by supporting Ghanaian-owned and led businesses for job creation,” Shiraz said.
The NDC’s manifesto promises to promote good governance, infrastructure development, and business growth, with a focus on critical sectors and initiatives to restore investor confidence and alleviate financial pressures on businesses.
