Former President John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), will lead his running mate, Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, on a courtesy call to the Central Regional House of Chiefs today. This follows the successful launch of the NDC’s 2024 election campaign in Tamale over the weekend.
According to a statement by James Agyenim-Boateng, spokesperson for the NDC running mate, the visit is a show of respect and a chance to engage with the traditional leaders of the region. The statement noted that the courtesy call is a precursor to Professor Opoku-Agyemang’s campaign tour of the region.
After the courtesy call, Professor Opoku-Agyemang will embark on a campaign tour of the region, visiting several constituencies. Her tour is expected to last until Friday, August 2, when she will wrap up the first leg of her campaign in the region.
The NDC’s campaign launch in Tamale marked the beginning of the party’s efforts to win the 2024 elections. With Professor Opoku-Agyemang by his side, Mahama is expected to crisscross the country, selling the party’s message to Ghanaians.
The Central Region is a key battleground in the 2024 elections, and the NDC is keen to make inroads there. By starting her campaign tour in the region, Professor Opoku-Agyemang is signaling the party’s commitment to winning votes in the area.
Over the next few days, Professor Opoku-Agyemang will engage with residents of the Central Region, listen to their concerns, and share the NDC’s vision for Ghana’s future. Her campaign tour is expected to generate excitement and momentum for the NDC ahead of the 2024 elections.
