New Zealand’s women’s rugby sevens team has won their second consecutive Olympic gold medal, defeating Canada 19-12 in the final at the Paris Games.
The team got off to a strong start, with Risi Pouri-Lane scoring the first try to put New Zealand ahead.
However, Canada fought back, scoring two tries to take the lead.
But the Black Ferns Sevens were not to be denied, and they hit back early in the second half to retake the lead.
Stacey Waaka’s try sealed the win for New Zealand, securing their second Olympic gold medal in a row.
The United States took home the bronze medal, defeating Australia 14-12 in the third-place match.
