Pius Enam Hadzide, the New Patriotic Party’ parliamentary candidate for Asuogyaman, has appealed to voters for their support, pledging to organize a trip to the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States for young people in the constituency if he is elected.
At a campaign rally, Pius Enam Hadzide emphasized his links to the sports industry as a means to create global prospects for Ghana’s youth, allowing them to travel abroad, gain experiences, and send money back to support their families and communities.
Mr. Hadzide pointed out that he had already successfully organized a lengthy 16-hour trip to Australia for certain individuals, implying that arranging a shorter, 7-hour trip to the US for the World Cup would be even easier if he is elected, given his experience and connections.
Mr. Hadzide further promised that, if the youth backed him in the election and opportunities emerged, he would help facilitate their travel to additional countries, including the UK, Germany, and France, beyond just the US for the World Cup.
Pius Hadzide, formerly the Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, has faced travel-related controversy before.
In 2017, he was embroiled in the Australian Visa scandal, where some individuals allegedly pretended to be journalists to obtain visas for the Commonwealth Games.
Although initially suspended, an investigation later exonerated him, and President Nana Akufo-Addo reinstated him, clearing his name.
Pius Hadzide is urging voters to support his candidacy in the upcoming election, promising to empower them to realize their dreams of exploring the world and accessing economic opportunities abroad.
