Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, the NDC’s 2024 Running Mate, emphasized the need for truthful and trustworthy leaders in Ghana, urging voters to make informed decisions in the December 7 polls.
She stressed that sincerity and truthfulness foster public trust, respect, and confidence, and also attract divine favor for national progress.
She made these remarks at the annual ‘Meko Bono’ festival in Techiman, Bono East Region, which celebrates the region’s rich cultural heritage and promotes tourism, investment, and unity for development.
“every government needs to open up” and remained accountable to the people, creating avenues and inspiring citizens to actively contribute their quota towards accelerated national development.” Prof. Opoku-Agyemang said.
Professor Opoku-Agyemang stressed the need for Ghanaians to cultivate respect and tolerance for one another to preserve the country’s peace and social harmony.
She warned that disrespect and reputation-tarnishing during the election period could lead to enmity, political violence, and disrupt national peace, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a peaceful and cohesive society.
Professor Opoku-Agyemang assured the public that an NDC government would deliver on its campaign promises outlined in the party’s manifesto, and urged voters to trust and support the party by casting their ballots for them in the upcoming December 7 elections.
“As we have promised, the NDC government will build universities in all the newly created regions and revamp the various Technical Universities to improve technical education in the country,” Prof Opoku-Agyemang stated.
Former First Lady Mrs. Lordina Mahama, who accompanied the NDC Running Mate, praised the festival’s goals and objectives, commending the organizers for showcasing the region’s rich culture and tourism potential, which she believes will attract investments and drive development.
She emphasized the importance of maintaining absolute peace and unity for the region’s holistic progress, urging the people to preserve and strengthen the existing peace.
