Nana Kwame Bediako, an independent presidential hopeful, has unveiled a comprehensive plan through his political movement, The New Force, aimed at tackling Ghana’s entrenched developmental issues through a multi-faceted approach.
During an appearance on Happy 98.9 FM’s Happy Morning Show, The New Force’s Lead Economic Analyst, Hubert Baidoo, advocated for a comprehensive solution to Ghana’s issues, emphasizing the importance of addressing the economic, social, and political aspects simultaneously.
“Ghana’s challenges are complex and can’t be solved overnight. We need to build from the ground up,” Mr. Baidoo explained. He suggested that current leadership is aware of systemic problems but reluctant to address them due to concerns over losing power. “A holistic approach is needed to create sustainable solutions,” he added.
At the heart of The New Force’s strategy lies a radical decentralization plan, granting semi-autonomous powers to Ghana’s 16 regions, each headed by a CEO tasked with driving regional growth and development through innovative, corporate-style governance.
“We need to operate the regions like businesses, making them profitable and self-sufficient,” said Baidoo. “This will drive innovation, entrepreneurship, and regional economic growth.”
He envisioned a future where cities like Kumasi, Bolgatanga, and Tamale become major drivers of growth, rivaling global powerhouses like Dubai and Singapore, and emphasized the need to invest in their development to unlock their full potential.
“Focusing on these regions will create jobs, stimulate economic growth, and reduce inequality across the country.”
Nana Kwame Bediako, widely known as Cheddar, and his movement, The New Force, are dedicated to turning this vision into reality, with Cheddar being a pioneer in advocating for the appointment of CEOs to oversee regional governance.
“We need a paradigm shift in how we govern and develop our country,” Baidoo concluded.
The New Force is gearing up to unveil its visionary plan for Ghana’s future, with Nana Kwame Bediako set to announce his running mate later this month, marking a significant milestone in the movement’s journey.
