Accra, Ghana – The Vice President of Ghana, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has commissioned the Royal Ghana Gold Refinery, a state-of-the-art facility located in Greater Accra, Ghana.
The refinery, a partnership between the Government of Ghana and Rosy Royal Minerals Limited, is equipped with cutting-edge technology that meets international standards.The Royal Ghana Gold Refinery will increase premiums for Ghana’s gold exports, create 80-120 direct and 500 indirect jobs, boost domestic tax revenue, and enable Ghana to produce 24-carat, 99.99% pure gold, meeting LBMA standards.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Dr. Bawumia said, “The partnership between the Government of Ghana, through the Bank of Ghana, and Rosy Royal Minerals Limited symbolizes a vision for a prosperous future in the precious minerals industry.
“He also emphasized the refinery’s capacity, saying, “This refinery has adequate capacity to meet the needs of Ghana and surrounding gold producing countries. It is my expectation that our domestic mines will be fully on board and make this refinery their first point of call.
“Dr. Bawumia highlighted the government’s commitment to responsible mineral extraction and export, stating, “We will work collaboratively with key stakeholders, particularly large- and small-scale miners, on how best to ensure that we work progressively to get all gold refined before export.
“The Royal Ghana Gold Refinery is expected to significantly boost Ghana’s capacity to locally process gold and increase value addition prospects, making it a key player in the global gold market. The refinery’s commissioning is a major milestone in Ghana’s efforts to harness its mineral resources for the maximum benefit of all Ghanaians.
