The Vice President has strongly defended the government’s economic management, citing achievements such as reducing petroleum prices to the 10th lowest in Africa. He criticized the former president’s record, stating that he cannot lecture on economic management.
The Vice President recalled the challenges faced in 2020, including increased petro prices and food prices. However, he highlighted the government’s efforts to address these issues, particularly the “Gold for Oil” program, which aimed to reduce petroleum prices.
“We came up with the Gold for oil purchases… Today, we are the 10th lowest price for petroleum in Africa…
We are number 10, and our price is less than 23 cedis per liter, compared to Ivory coast,” he said. The Vice President emphasized that despite challenges, the government has made progress and believes that it can work better.
However, he dismissed the former president’s ability to lecture on economic management, citing his poor record.”When we sit in cabinet, we have collective responsibility…
Everybody brings their mind… I don’t think the former president can lecture us on economic management. His record would not allow him to lecture us,” he stated.
The Vice President’s comments come amid ongoing debates about the government’s economic performance and the former president’s criticisms.
The Vice President’s defense of the government’s record and criticism of the former president’s abilities have added fuel to the fire, sparking further discussion and analysis.
