Swiss international midfielder Xherdan Shaqiri has become a free agent after mutually agreeing to terminate his contract with Major League Soccer (MLS) side Chicago Fire.
The 31-year-old joined the Fire in February 2022, but has now opted to leave the club and explore new opportunities.
Shaqiri, known for his exceptional dribbling skills and vision on the field, has had a storied career playing for top-tier clubs like Bayern Munich, Inter Milan, and Liverpool.
He has also made 109 appearances for the Swiss national team, scoring 26 goals and representing his country at multiple international tournaments, including the World Cup and European Championship.
During his time at Chicago Fire, Shaqiri made 29 appearances, scoring seven goals and providing five assists.
Despite his impressive individual performances, the team struggled to find consistency, and Shaqiri has now decided to seek a new challenge.
As a free agent, Shaqiri is free to join any club of his choice, and his availability is likely to attract interest from top clubs across Europe and beyond.
With his wealth of experience and proven talent, he would be a valuable addition to any squad.
Shaqiri’s next move remains uncertain, but one thing is clear – he is ready for a new chapter in his illustrious career.
