Tamale, Ghana – National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, has urged Ghanaians to change course and reject the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the upcoming elections.
Speaking to a packed and enthusiastic crowd at the NDC’s campaign launch in Tamale on Saturday 27, July 2024, Mahama emphasized that the country cannot afford to continue with the same leadership that has caused the current crisis.
“On December 7, Ghana must change course, we cannot solve the crisis in which we are with the same people who caused the problem,” Mahama said.
He criticized NPP flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, for promising the same things as President Akufo-Addo, who Mahama claims has failed the country.
“Several years ago, somebody came and said try me, the result is what we’re seeing today. Today, another person has come and he’s also saying try me.” He stated.
Mahama also highlighted the desire of the youth for experienced leadership.
“The youth of this country don’t have four years to waste. The youth of this country are in a hurry to create the opportunities that will make them live a dignified life. They are not going to try somebody and four years take him off. The youth want an experienced hand.” He added.
The NDC flagbearer’s comments come as the country gears up for the 2024 general elections, with Mahama and Bawumia being two of the leading contenders for the presidency.
